My story doesn’t begin like most published authors. I don’t have a stash of poetry from my childhood. I didn’t write a lot in college, other than what I was required to write (along with a few cheesy love poems here and there ;).)
I really didn’t begin to read for pleasure until my mid 20’s, when I decided to give “Harry Potter” a whirl. After that, I discovered “Twilight.”
These books had a huge impact on me. I loved them! And so began my love affair with young adult fiction. Now, I can’t seem to get enough of it.
I’m not a picky reader. Vary rarely will I dislike a YA book. In my opinion, a good book is like a good house. As long as it has good bones, you won’t hear anything negative from me. Why? Because I truly respect authors for sharing their stories. Be it picked up by a popular publishing company or self-published-all books have a place to be read, and it us up to the readers to discover them. And I am more than happy to indulge :).
My passion is my family. I love my kids, hate when I’m apart from them, and am currently researching homeschooling because it is where my heart is leading me. I have a teaching degree and have previously worked in early education classrooms. I do not fear homeschooling by any means. I embrace it. One minute my oldest was turning three. Just a few days ago he turned six. And now he has his first loose tooth.Time goes by so incredibly fast and I don’t want to miss a thing.
I am currently working on a children’s book series, inspired by my two little boys and husband. I feel like it’s a cute, silly little story. I hope others will feel the same once it is all written and ready to go. I have started writing a YA book as well…but had to put it on the back burner once I began freelancing…but all in good time. It will get done :).
However, my greatest story is my own love story (which is a story for another time). It is a great one–truly one for the books. I love life. I love my family. And one day, I hope to inspire aspiring authors, as I myself have been inspired by many.
I’d love to hear your story. Please feel free to share yours with me! -Jenny Wagner 🙂
