Lovin’ Me Some Bad Boy!

hush, hush

by Becca Fitzpatrick

While this was not necessarily one of the best books I have ever read, it was by far a highly enjoyable read—and a super fast read to say the least! I read this book in three days, only having a few moments here and there when my boys were awake throughout the day. Because of the suspense, it is definitely hard to put this one down—not to mention the chapters are decently short which make it easy to zip right through. It’s a story of figuring out who Patch, the mysterious bad boy, really is and  how various characters are related to the mystery. As a reader, I was immediately protective of Nora, the main character. We find out early on that Nora’s father was murdered and her mother is away from home often. I wanted her to win in the end because she had already experienced so much pain in her young life.

Nora realizes that she should stay away from Patch since he gives off that bad boy vibe. But aren’t all girls at one point attracted to the bad boy and in need of discovering why they are so bad? Well, that’s what Nora needs to do. Nora falls for the “bad boy,” whom she finds herself unnaturally unable to stay away from.  As the relationship between Nora and Patch builds, not much happens in the romance department. There are a few scenes here and there, but the story is more of a learning experience as to who Patch is and why Nora is drawn to him.  My guess is that Fitzpatrick must leave the mush for book 2, Crescendo. I have yet to read it but cannot wait to do so!

“Fitzpatrick debuts with a gripping chiller where humans become the pawns in the hands of fallen angels….A fast-paced, exhilarating read….Genuinely, even unsettingly seductive—fans of paranormal romance should be rapt.”        -Publisher’s Weekly

“For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She’s never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch came along.

With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora’s not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can’t decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen – and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.”
